Katherine Cordon, 93, passed away suddenly at home on July 20, 2010.
Born February 24, 1917, in Syracuse, N.Y., she lived most of her life in Youngstown and Akron. Katherine was a proprietor with her husband of Sweetland Confectionery in Youngstown. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Philoptochos and Greek Festival workshops.
Preceded in death by her husband, James Cordon; brothers, James and Chris Pappas; sister, Molly Pappas; survived by son, Peter (Jenean) Cordon; grandson, James (Samantha) Cordon; a great grandchild expected in December; sisters-in-law, Mary and Kathleen Pappas; many nieces, nephews and their families.
A special thanks to Mary, George and Carol Pappas for their care and compassion.
Services will be held 11 am, Saturday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 129 S. Union St., with Fr. Nicholas Hughes officiating. Burial at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with a 7 p.m. Trisagion service. If desired, memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of one's choice.
